Default Question on HDMI - DVI Cable? Easy Question for you guys! Please...

My TV has an HDMI outlet

My Directv box has an HDMI outlet

I have a Monster HDMI - DVI cable.

I now want to connect the two using HDMI.

A> What is my best option?

*Buy an HDMI - DVI adapter? If so, do I need male hdmi to female dvi or vice versa? And also, what brand? Should I buy one for $3.00 or go drop the $25 at Best Buy. Suggessted brand would help

*Buy a new HDMI cable alltogether. Same question as above? Ebay? Best Buy, etc? What brand?

(right now, i am running the sound from the tv, so pic quality is my only concern here. I currently have componet. I should see a difference, no? I have a 43 inch panasonic lcd.)

B> Finally, in the future, should I decide to purchase an HDMI DVD player, how would I then connect that to the tv, since their is only one hdmi outlet? go back to using component on the cable, and hdmi on the dvd, or just plug the hdmi when I use the dvd player and leave unplugged the rest of the time?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: Buy an HDMI-HDMI cable. Visit monoprice.com for good cable deals.
B: You could buy an HDMI switch box, a receiver/amplifier with multiple HDMI inputs, or use component cables for the DVD or DirectTV box.

So you think by getting the adapter, quality may be lost so just might as well get all new cables?

I wouldn't think you'd notice any quality loss with the adapter, but the price difference between an adapter and new cable would probably be small.

Buy a new HDMI to HDMI cable. The converter will remove the dond since DVI does not include audio. As the previous poster said go to www.monoprice.com as they have reasonably priced HDMI cables.

Default buy a new cable

You should buy a new HDMI to HDMI cable. Every time you use an adaptor or splitter you loose quality, plus with the HDMI to HDMI you gain sound, no more RCA cable, if you were using them. With the new cable you get digital sound and video direct from box to TV without having anything converted.
