Default Gefen HDMI Switcher With Cables

I'm thinking of purchasing a Gefen 2-in 1-out HDMI switcher. Will the HDMI cables that come with the switcher suffice, or should I buy a higher quality HDMI cable. I have a 61 inch Samsung DLP, which is connected to my DISH HD Receiver and will be connected to my Samsung DVD Player with HDMI output. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I did not know cables come with the Gefen. Of course, they should be fine. If this is from Ram Electronics, they sell good cables. There a couple of much cheaper switches, but they are not remote controlled.
And apparently the Gefen are excellent quality, or so I've been told.

Should I go with Gefen for my HDMI switcher or is there another one out there that will give you just as much bang for a lot less buck? I don't care about the remote, but if they include the cables that would be nice. Thanks

Default Gefen Switcher

I have a 4x1 Gefen Switcher and it works great. The cables do come with the Switcher and they work fine. Good luck.

Default monoprice

I have a 2x1 switcher from monoprice, less than $100, comes with remote, works like a charm. Cables are around $8 each.

Did you buy the cables from Monoprice? If so then what is the length of the cables?

Yes, I bought them from monoprice. They have cables of various lengths, mine was six feet. The cable works as well as the higher priced name brands. Check them out at www.monoprice.com.

There are several places with switches for under 100, but not remote.
Depends upon your needs.

Steren 516-0214 HDMI Splitter comes with a remote, but no cables. Unfortunately though, the remote is almost too small to be practical and is very hard NOT to lose. I think I paid about $120 and I've had no problems what so ever. I was worried about possible PQ loss due to adding a splitter.
The splitter works great. If there's ANY PQ loss, it's not noticable on a 720p.

The switch will work just fine, but so will many others that are a fourth of the price you will pay.

Switches MUCH cheaper can be found online, even coming with a remote and built in EQ. I'd shop around some.

Definitely, some has to show me why these Gefen are so expensive.
I mean you only need to use a switch now and then.
My switch was <100 (remote) and the picture looks identical to no switch in the line.
I could see commercial applications for HD switches for demos, etc. day in day out..but for home use I think the prices of those are outrageous.

Speaking of Gefen. has anyone tried to compare the performance of their HD1000 Fiber link vs other high-end standard copper/silver wire HDMI links?
