i have a somewhat older tv with 6 or 7 inputs
pc, av1 scart, av2 scart, ext3 compsite signal svideo and l/r sound, ext4 component signal and l/r sound, ext 5 HDMI, audio out and a headphone jack 1 have a cable network decoder hdmi connected and a dvd player with scart connected. Everything works fine. but i have a older stereo tower that has 4 speakers. In some cases i like the redirect the sound from my tv speakers to my stereo system (for exampel concerts on tv, or dvd s with music videos) I need a way to output sound from my tv to my stereo system. So far i tried: connect a rca white red cable to the tv out of my tv. If i play a dvd (connected with scart) (tv set to av channel ext2 dvd player) it works, i have sound from my stereo system but then i turn on my network decoder (hdmi connected) and put (the tv on av channel 5 hdmi) , there is no sound output from my tv output. I mean the speakers on the tv work but no sound is being directed to my stereo system. Is it normal that when a device is connected to ext5 hdmi , that the tv output no longer works? What to do to resolve this? I could maybe connect some rca cables red/white to both the dvd player and network decoder and connect both red whites to a mix rca panel and run 1 single red and one single white rca cable to my stereo. Would that work? |

Your TV may have a setting to enable the audio output. But, yes, connecting audio from the source devices to the sound system should work just fine.

I did not find any setting to enable audio out with hdmi Is this normal that hdmi input on the tv disables the audio out? Is this common or uncommon? Receiver has only rca input and the cables are built in in wall: the receiver is placed on the other side of the door. New other cables are not possibel for now. Is there any other way to have audio on both devices? For example : i have to buy a new blu ray player soon for this installation (its for my mothers home , not mine). I could buy a hdmi blu ray player and buy a hdmi switch but i dont think it will solve my problem. Any suggestions? |

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. What mixing do you want to do?
If your stereo only has one set of inputs, then you'll need a switch to select which device to feed to the stereo. If you have more than one input, then plug in both devices and use the stereo to select the one you want to hear. |
