What is HD?

I do karaoke at a bar and they prefer that I use their HD TV. They used to have a coax cable that they ran through the ceiling and would drop down that I would input into a converter box and run an s-video cable into my laptop. I have updated my laptop and instead bought a CL-3 certified and shielded HDMI cable that is 50 feet long. The current setup is as follows.
RCA sound cable from laptop to Behringer Mixer 2 hard drives that connect to the laptop via USB The mixer has 3 mics on it, one corded and two cordless 2 speakers plug into the mixer via XLR cables I use a total of 3 power supplies to simplify my life, if that makes sense. All of this is fine, no noise. The moment I plug in the HDMI cable and the laptop syncs with the tv, I get the buzzing. I can only attempt this setup once a week as it's the only time I work there and getting all this equipment set up takes about 45min. I've not tried disconnecting the HDMI cable on the TV end to see if that does anything with the buzz, or plugging it into another HDMI port, but I will be trying that next week. My setup seems to be a different one than what I've read here but the ultimate goal is the same, to get rid of the buzz. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance! |

So plugging in the HDMI cable effects the RCA connection getting static? If that is the case then you could have a grounding issue. Does the sound continue to get static if you instead of using the 3.5mm and send the audio out HDMI, does it persist? If so then there could be a problem with your HDMI output is what I would think.

also try an rf choke, really cheap at RS. clips right on to the cables.
It worked for me when I had a similer issue it might be a good idea to get in on an off day to try a fix |

Sorry about the delay in responding but thank you for doing so. I will try the RF choke tonight and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it I will call Toshiba and tell them that it's a possible issue with the HDMI output....ugh....
Will let you guys know tomorrow
