I dont know much about Tv's and cables but next year I will be living in a triple dorm room and me and another kid are both bringing TVs down. There is only one cable tv jack and i was wondering if it's possible to both be able to hook up both TV's to the one cable jack. Im not familiar with any code names so if it is possible can you provide links of what i would need to get this done? Thanks.

you can try a high grade 2-way "splitter". Splitters introduce losses into the signal, so it is possible the splitter will reduce the signal to each TV that you lose some or all of the stations on the cable. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=180-351

hook the single end (input) to a short piece of RG6 TV coax cable to the wall outlet. Run more RG6 TV coax cable to each output (the two on the same side) and then run the cable to the cable box input for each TV.
You will need to know where the TV are going to be, measure from the TV locations to the wall outlet, add extra for "slop" and buy two RG6 TV coaxial cables (walmart, radio shack, BB, etc.) and a very short piece to run from the splitter to the wall outlet. 3 cables in all. This all assumes you are going to get two cable set top boxes so each TV can view something different. |

Thanks ill search for those cords. I also misread the OSU tv thing. It states:
Comcast Cable TV Included in Every Room Each residence hall and cooperative room has one cable TV jack that includes Comcast Cable TV (channels listed below). All you need is a coax TV cable (available at the OSU Bookstore if you don't already have one) and a cable ready TV or computer. So therefore will it still work if i dont have/need the cable box? Just do one cord from wall to the splitter, then two other ones each hooking up from the TV to the 2 sided splitter side? Will it still work? Also will be both be able to watch something else at same time? |

so you want two TV's in one dorm room ??? I hope you both plan on using headphones !
yes, the splitter will still work, you just connect the cable from the splitter to the cable/antenna input on the back of the TV. |
