Question S-Video problem from laptop to LCD TV

I'm new to this...

I have a Westinghouse LCD connected to a laptop via a 25' S-Video cable. Laptop is a P111 650Mz 256MB RAM running Windows XP. When I switch the TV to S-Video mode and boot up the laptop the TV detects the device, displays the desktop for ~10-15 seconds and then loses it..."Searching" is on the display. It can't be the display settings on the laptop otherwise I wouldn't see the desktop in the first place...Any ideas???

Try using a much shorter s-video cable to see if it is the 25' length that is causing the problem.

It actually could still be the video settings in the laptop. If it still doesn't work with the short svideo cable you migh want to try a lower setting resolution, or get powerstrip which allows you to tweak the video settings to make it work. It will also help it fit within the tv screen by eliminating the overscan on the TV.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

assuming the TV display setting is configured on the laptop - try setting the display to 640x480 or similar 480 low res - make sure the refresh is 60~ what type of video adapter does it use?
