audio from pc to tv?

im using hdmi to dvi to my 42" plasma, my tv is 42PQ30 , im using a connector like this, http://www.universalpart.com/ProductGraphics/P4196a.jpg, audion cables and a 3.5mm audio cable. but when i watch videos i get no sound, if i switch source to av i get sound no picture. is there anywork around without buying a 12foot 3.5mm audio cable?

you could just get a hdmi out video card, they are very cheap over on newegg.

most even have dvi out also where you can hook up and normal moniter and use the hdmi simitaniously for a HDTV.

I use a DVI-HDMI cable for video and 3.5mm Male-Male Stereo Audio Cable on the same TV to my HTPC. The only audio input on the TV (besides HDMI) is the PC input 3.5mm jack.
