PC hooked up to Panny Plasma through a DVI-D dual link adapter, than a regular HDMI cable (provided by Time Warner when picking up the HD cable box) going from the adapter to the Plasma tv.
Video card is GeForce 8800gt (dual DVI output, i use 2 monitors) i remove a connected monitor and plug in the the plasma. resolution of 1920x1080 auto set by Nvidia Control Panel and Panasonic Plasma auto detected. Movies play fine for the most part. I noticed however sometimes (depending on movie size i think) that the video tends to speed up. its only for 1 second but its a long second when audio doesnt match video and the video speeds up. could this be an issue of the HDMI wire? is it not high quality enough. its only going about 6 ft to the tv. i am using media player classic to play some bluray content. should i use a different player or is it a codec issue? |

Going only by what you posted, it sounds like the computer is having a hard time keeping up (at least thats what I would be looking at). You didn't post system specs so I geuss I would start here;
PC spec needed to play Blu Ray/HD DVD? (If its a file playing from HD I would be looking at HD speeds first). As for the player, nothing beats VLC which I highly reccomend (and it's free) http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ |

it turned out it was mainly a codec issue. I was running very old codecs that werent decoding the large video files. since updating the codecs i have had no issues

Cool glad to hear you got it resolved. I would still checkout VLC, I'm sure if you do you will fall in love with it. It's a great player (powerfull player).
