Default Getting unsubscribed channel

Hello,

I just bought a Plasma TV (LG50PQ30) and after I automatically tuned the channel with my cable connected directly to the wall (no box), I suddenly get some premium channels that I do not subscribed, such as starz, encore, and some HD channels.

Is this because of the Tv's digital tuner ?

The strange thing is that the TV can't get the premium channel that I actually subscribe without the box, such as HBO and cinemax, plus some other family channels.

Any idea or experience of this ?

My cable provider is charter.

Thanks for sharing.

I suspect what you're seeing is a neighbor's Video On Demand. VOD is often transmitted in-the-clear (though that's being changed little by little).

What is in the clear transmission mean ?

Also VOD means that it will not be there unless you play it correct ?

These channels that I get is there 24/7.

I am just curious.

Not encrypted.

Well, the point is that you'll see neighbors' VOD selections whenever they play them.

Probably not VOD then. It's probably a glitch then. Technically, even though you can tune in such channels, you've agreed not to (in the terms and conditions of service). If they're showing racy programming that you find objectionable being presented in-the-clear, I'd complain about it; otherwise I wouldn't worry about it much (but I also wouldn't count on it continuing either).
