Default Is it too big?

My new HDTV is really blurry on some cable channels (like TCM). Cable says it's not the signal or HD cable box. Will buying a smaller TV really make a difference?

Try turning the sharpness down on your new TV to 0 unless it is a Panasonic in which case 50=0 and leave it there. If your picture isn't any better then it may just be the cable box or signal.

It's a 40" samsung. I set the sharpness down to 5. Cable company has checked the signal strength (from their end and mine) and tested the box. Any other ideas? Would a smaller screen make a difference? When I activate the cable guide and the current channel shows in the upper right corner, it looks perfectly good. When it's screen size (normal, not zoom mode) it's blurry. HD channels look fine.

Are these standard def channels you are talking about? If so SD will look "blurry". How do the HD channels look?

I have a 42" Panasonic and TCMHD looks excellent. Yesterday was all day Cary Grant so I saw parts of several very old movies and they looked very good. I was surprised that HD masters even existed for some of them, but they did look very good, not like upconverted.
