Default Question from a novice

We recently upgraded to the Sammy 3090. I love the picture and quality, but we are continuing to have a recording issue. I posted about this a week or 2 ago, but had no responses. Fox HD is not recording certain shows for the full time, or they are making multiple recordings throughout the hour. For example, Hell's Kitchen would record from 9:00 - 9:23, 9:25-9:29, 9:28-9:45, etc. the same thing happened on So You Think You can Dance, another Fox HD show. TWC (we are in NYC) also had no answers, so they sent a technician out. He couldn't figure it out, so he replaced our box with another Sammy.

Last night, on our new box, we again recorded Hell's Kitchen. All seemed to be going ok, but the recording stopped at 9:55. There was then abuot a 15 second interval, and a second recording continued from 9:55-10:00. So, this seems to be the same issue. Is it possible that this is a signal/wire problem that is causing this. Again, it has only happened on this one particular channel (on multiple shows) and on 2 different boxes. My wife is getting frustrated, which in turn frustrates me! We are going to test SYTYCD tonight, but I expext I will have the same result.

Any advice, thoughts, help?

I am just outside Seattle. Fox HD has been problematic for me. When it gets really bad, they shut off the HD, and switch to upconverted. There are lots of dropouts.

My Motorola 3416 DVR's also divide programs into pieces too. I have 2 similar models. When programs get divided, it happens on both DVR at the same time. To me this indicates an outside influence, rather than an individual DVR. Comcast says it may be my surge protector. I have never seen the power shut off mysteriously. I find it hard to believe it is the surge protector.

Sadly I have no solution for you. Be thankful it is is only one channel. For me, everything gets divided.

Default Twc nyc

Well, at least now I know I'm not crazy. When my issue continued yet again this week, I called TWC NYC again. This time they admitted that they were having an issue with the broadcast signal of Fox HD and hoped to have the situation fixed in 3-5 weeks. I'm not holding my breath, but at least I now know it's not just me. Looks like it's SD Fox for now!

Charlotte, NC here. This has been occuring on my end as well. You definitely are not crazy! I recorded a show the other day and had to watch two segments, one was only 5 minutes long, and I lost a bit of the show between recordings.
