Angry Cox required to connect??

Cable is up and down my street, and Cox is the service provider. However, previous owners of my house never connected to the pole. I have asked for a connection to pole, and Cox wants to charge a fortune to run the cable from pole to house!!
Is this fair? Everyone else was connected at no charge...and I think the county requires it for Cox to get the county contract. I'm I wrong?

I told Cox I wanted everything they had to offer and I needed every room to have a connection total 8 connections. I had them remove all RG59 and replace it with that 2.3GHz Quad RG6 with digital ends. Took them a very long time to install that stuff. They did it for me free when I moved here. This house had no connection to the pole which is far from here. I heard it had taken them over 2 hours to get the bucket truck and two guys to run 11 gauge drop line wire from the pole back to this house.

Why do they want to charge you?

Where are you at? That certainly does not sound right to me if the cable is already in the neighborhood. I would believe that if you were a mile or so down the road from the nearest drop.

I could see them charging to wire the inside of the house if your not already cable ready so to speak.

I would call Cox again and if your given the same information escalate to a higher level of Customer Service. You also might post this question to the DSLReports Cox forum. A number of helpful and friendly Cox representatives hang out there.

Also check with your city or county government about this.

Different cities have different guide lines. The service drop should be provided for free since it is required for the basic service? Along with the first outlet, again its needed for basic service. If your ordering another line of business, product like internet or phone, then that outlet should be included. These outlets, if not already installed, can be ran to the installers choice.
If you desire a line be added into an interior wall, expect to pay additional amount above the exterior cost. Be sure to get it done on install date. If not expect to pay the fee plus a additional fee for the trip.

Usually the router will work out of the box but sometimes you may have to run the wireless repair feature on each of your computers. Right click the wireless icon in the taskbar and click repair to repair the connection. This may not be necessary but it only takes a few seconds. After that right click the wireless icon again, click View available wireless connections and select your router and click connect at the bottom of the window.
