Default Bad Fast Motion From Some Comcast HD

I have Comcast just North of Seattle, Washington. On some HD channels, such as Cinemax, HBO, and USA, the fast motion is very bad. During action adventure, special effects, and such, the picture becomes very digital, "blocky", (my word). It is annoying, because Starz, and Showtime do not suffer these problems. If all I ever got was flaws, I would not know anything else. But to have near perfection only sometimes is very frustrating. I have 2 Motorola 3416 boxes on the same TV. Can anybody offer any tips? Thanks in advance.

No comments? I figured I would get some responses from Comcast haters.

My older LCD TV uses a component input, and has a max of 770p resolution.

Comcast says this should not happen. But they have no solution. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there no tips or tricks which will help?

Do you notice it any other time or on any other channels?

Thanks. You and I were typing at the same time. MPEG4? I thought cable used MPEG2? I use 720p, since my TV will not do 1080.
EDIT Do not know why I did not get all of the quote.

I am not watching reruns of the former shows. 107, KIRO, the Seattle CBS affiliate has been good for me. Sometimes though, CBS on demand is not as good. NCIS looks better on KIRO than on USA. Standard definition may have flaws too. The component standard definition very often looks compressed. I switched to SVideo for standard defintion, and this helps most of the time. Speed Racer was the worst program I have ever seen. The racing sequences were awful, HD, and SD. Journey To The Center Of The Earth remake looked pretty bad too. I watched that on Blu Ray first, and it was flawless. Blu Ray is good for me. My TV is discontinued as obsolete, so I do not imagine it is the best. It does not make any sense to me that some programs look good, and some do not.
I have no idea whats causing your problem... Now that I have stated that, I can speculate what may help.

Try tightening any loose connections. Make sure you are not using any coax that uses a push on connection instead of a twist on connection.

Also, Sometimes when watching movies on an HD station, you could be watching the movie is SD as channels don't always have an HD program on 100% of the time.

What do you have connected from the box to the tv? I have noticed in the past that some people will have an HDMI/Component hook up AND have a coax cable hooked up to the tv also and they are tuning the box on channel 3, this is not a HD connections even through you are using an HDMI also. You would have to disconnect the coax and tune the HDMI or Coax.

Thanks a lot, really. I am pretty smart about this stuff. Maybe if I can not solve it, there is no solution. But this seemed like the place to look for an answer.

If you dont think its the tv, try swapping your box out at the office? It sounds as if you are experiencing "tiling" which is a signal issue. Either at that outlet or from the pole inward...

I still don't understand what the issues really is...

Not just Comcast, but this happens ota as well. For more information on this see: When Is HDTV Going to Catch Up?

Probably the reason those other channels are not as big a problem is they are for most of their programming using film that was shot at 24fps as a source compared to network interlaced video shot at 1080i. ABC and Fox being exceptions to this who use 720p. As to Cinemax, HBO, and USA I don't have the problem on those channels with U-verse, so I suppose it could be a provider problem.
