Default # of TWC HD channels

TWC is making a big push into my neighborhood and I was wondering how many HD channels they have. The website lists our locals and only about 13 others excluding premiums. Can this be right? It seems like a very low #.

I have TWC here in Overland Park Kansas (Kansas City) and we have quite an extensive HD channel selection. All the regulars like ESPN, A&E, History, Sci Fi and National Geographic as well as some of the more specialized HD channels like the Tennis and Golf channels. All told we have around 60 HD channels.

My only beef with TWC is their charging an extra $2 for PPV movies in HD.

I have a vacation condo at South Padre Island, Texas and that is the same number of HD channels available there in the TW Rio Grande Valley division. Basically where I was back in 2006 when I first got Cox HD service at home in Oklahoma. The bottom line is that s**ks so to speak particularly for what you pay for the service, ie. HD DVR set top box rental, etc.

IMHO if I were you I would look closely at DirecTV or Dish as an alternative. I think you would be better served.

It depends on the system. My Time Warner has 75 channels including many that DirecTV does not, with 9 more scheduled to launch thru August and possibly MSNBC HD to be #10 to bring it up to 84 or 85...

basically... if they're making a push into your neighborhood, perhaps just buying a system from another company, they move quick. Especially once they get SDV set up, they'll add channels FAST. If you can live with a smaller selection now, and are patient... it's definitely worth looking into their bundle packages cuz the price can't be beat on a triple play.... if you want instant gratification, satellite is the way for you, but be mindful of the 2 year contracts.

But, still no NFL Network, SD or HD. I really want NFL Network! HD of course!

That would be something one would have to consider when weighing the options. For me, I've actually got DirecTV, despite my knowledge of what TWC has in my area..... and I've never turned to 212 except when games are on... so for 3 hour slots, 8 times a year, over the course of a mere 2 months, which adds up to a mere 1 day of programming.... it really wouldn't weigh heavily on my choice. I'd be more concerned with the access to NBA and NHL tv as they show more games thru the season. ESPN is plenty for highlights and is on every carrier.... and the internet is faster for news. So, it's all in the personal preference one has... and I think most married men would agree with me... HGTV and Travel Channel being available in HD and not having to listen to your wife is more important than any sports channel.

Fortunately, my wife loves football as much as I do!
