So before I call I just want to get the jist of things, like what am I getting charged for? why am I getting charged for the remote every single month? what is this DTV service that costs 8$ thats there 3 times? can someone explain what the preffered tier and converter charge is? I know the 4 premium channels are HBO,stars, showtime and cinemax But I am still going to call and threaten them to cancel if they dont drop something, because I know Im getting ripped (sorry Im a new to this) |

I also have Time Warner. My wife and I use to pay a similar high level bill. However when we moved 5 years ago we moved into an area where Time Warner was competing with Everest Cable. The result was a significant decline in our bill as Time Warner had to compete and thus the prices in our new area were significantly cheaper than in our old area where they had a monopoly. Now we have a third company in our area and the competition is really keeping the rates down as compared to the few remaining areas of the city that still have just Time Warner as a choice.
I honestly suggest you shop around. See what your options are. Find out if there is a second or even third cable company in your area or if one is working on expanding into your area. Check out their rates. If not your next choice is satellite. I encourage you though to treat your cable like shopping for a new car. Research is the key and don't be afraid of shopping around or letting Time Warner know that you are doing so. Last edited by mrbeankc; 07-13-2009 at 03:11 AM. |

I noticed the same thing with mine.. the bill should be the same every month if you don't buy anything extra..Normally my calbe and internet costs $87 or $90 an month.. last month $100 and change, maybe late fee? but still.. They are ripping people off.. It bugs the heck out of me that during the recession, all of these companies are trying to steal peoples money. As if a lot of peoples money isn't tight enough as it is.. You have to be super careful when buying anything off the internet.. or with any kind of automatic billing of your credit cards..ripoffs are happening everywhere.. Nortan antivirs just went on a spending spree with one of my cards, for no reason, it was ridiculous. I at least got my money back from that one.. It such a pain having to call customer service to resolve all of these stupid issues, .. and its an unfair thing to do to people during these times. Like I said, this is the latest trend that companies use to steal peoples money.. They are really hoping you don't notice..

Prices of everything have gone up. How is that stealing your money? Norton is stealing your money, I don't doubt that. I dropped them as soon as I could, their 3 copies for $99 pissed me off, I only have one computer. Can't only buy one copy if you are already in their system. |

Well, It was never democracy... "...And to the republic for which is stands..." I know this is off topic...
Try calling TWC and ask them for a deal, sometimes they can sometimes they can't. Ask them if you combine your premiums with prefered if it will save money. If they did increase your monthy rates, you most likely got a notice either in your bill or in a new paper stating the increase, this is a law in most areas in some way... |
