Thumbs down Problems Tuning Cox New Orleans Clear QAM on my Samsung

I have Cox Cable limited basic. For the last two years I have been receiving my local networks in HD via the QAM tunner in my Samsung LCD (LN-T4061F). The day before the digital transition Cox must have changed something because I can't get the HD channels anymore. When I pull up the channel list I can see where the channels are supposed to be. When I select them, I see the channel for a split second and then it switched to a different channel number and I get snow. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Is it Cox or my TV? My Dad has the same package as me and he still gets the HD local channels on his Sony. Please help Football season is coming and I don't get good OTA reception!

Yes, I have been re-scanning every few days to no avail. I wish there was a way to manually tune it.

Try this - Unplug the cable connection, rescan so the TV's tuner finds nothing. Turn off the TV. Wait about 10 minutes. Reconnect the cable to the TV and rescan. That should do it. If not, let us know.

You might also want to check with Samsung and see if there are any firmware updates for your TV.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to re-scan after unplugging the cable but it is still doing the same thing. And according to the Samsung web site there are on firmware upgrades available for my TV.

I'll go into a little more detail. The TV shows the following DTV channels as available on the TV’s channel list.

702 ( MY54 WUPL 24) This one works HD correct channel
704 (CBS WWL 36) This one shows the same programing as above.
706 (NBC WDSU 43) This one flips to DTV Channel 112-0 Create Network.
708 (FOX8) This one flips to DTV Channel115-0 sub channel programing of FOX8
711 (E1_5 WG) This one stays on the channel but shows snow
712 (Create WYES 11) This one stays on the channel but shows snow
713 (E1_2WN) This one flipped to channel 711-0 and showed ABC HD programing
749 (WPXL 50) This one flipped to channel 115-0 sub channel of programing of FOX but his is not a FOX channel.

The other strange thing is that I can see some channel using the Channel is on my TV but if I try to change channels up and down normally using the remote I get snow on all the channels above.

As an experiment I hooked up my Cox cable service direct to my Panasonic HDTV, bypassing the SA 8240HDC set top box I have, and could get the available local HD channels here in the OKC market plus all of the assorted analog channels Cox sends down the pipe.. The guide on my TV did not indicate what channel was what though. I had to flip through the channels and only found the local HD channels by trial and error.

So not much help for you but now I know I could get those if need be for what that is worth.

Why not get an HD set top box if your that big on getting the football games and can't use an antenna?

Is your antenna an indoor type or an outside/attic type? I have an antenna in my attic and get all the local OKC channels in HD OTA. I'm about 25 miles as the crow flies from the OKC antenna farms.

Thanks for looking at your setup. I did not have any problems until Cox started providing programing info. I think the TV is confuesed as to how to tune the channels now.

I use one of those in door picture frame antennas. Adding one outside or in the attic is out because I'm renting. Upgrading the cable is out because I'm cheap.

Thanks for the advice.
