Default Is Comcast planning on adding any more HD channels this year?

Here in CT I have not seen any new HD channels since
January. I have not heard of any new channels coming. Does anybody know if Comcast is done for the year?

It appears to be a regional thing:

Comcast to Add 30 HD Channels In Seattle

http://www.tvpredictions.com/comcast070209.htm

If you are on your Comcasts emailing list - they will send you an email when they are going to add HD channels.

I just got ION HD (which has almost no HD to speak of) which is a local station (Miami) that is out of my area (Ft. Lauderdale)

Lots of promises but only results count.

That link I gave you - that website is very good about cable companies adding HD channels.

I just left Dishnetwork and came back to Comcast 2 weeks ago. (I'm sure I'll discuss the reason for this in another thread somewhere) I asked the technician when he was installing if he knew of any new hd channels coming and of course he didn't know. He did say however that he knew in our area Comcast was going to start pulling more and more of the analog stations away and make everybody go to digital cable by 2011 (probably) so they can free-up more room for more HD channels. If this is true I'm thinking more and more HD should be added as the analog channels are shut down. We'll see!...Here's to hoping for the best.

Yes, it is a regional thing. We just received word that there's a major changing coming, here, on or about October 20.

I was told that here in Acushnet, MA we should have over 100 HD channels by summers end. I'm not sure what the lineup will be although I know the Speed channel WILL FINALLY BE THERE LOL! I was told to expect a letter in the mail telling me what the channels will be... Still waiting...

For a hint on what HD channels you'll have after your area goes all-digital, you can use Detroit as a good basis:

Wow, the tennis channel, travel channel, lifetime and of course - QVC, all in stunning HD. Comcast must be spewing all over themselves for pulling off this wondeful coup. IF this be part of the special "HD" lineup that comcast is proud of,,,,,makes me prouder to know that me dumped their HD box over a year ago.

Well Comcast stated to me that there would be a ton more HD here in my area by summers end and yet again a lie. I have DTV HD but still have Comcast service due to agreement ending in March 2010. I was hoping they would keep their word but again garbage on their end. Very disapointing espsecially when compared to what I get now channel for channel and price for price....

It is always essential to get all such promises in writing. Any other assertions are best intentions, but if you want to rely on something, so much that you'd consider not having received it indications of a "lie", then it is your responsibility to yourself to get the promise in writing.

I cannot tell you how often I see people misinterpret marketing, perverting an objective into a promise. Don't screw around with yourself -- do yourself a favor: Always get everything you want to count on in writing.

And if you cannot get it in writing, then don't count on it.

It's funny you say that actually b/c I asked for it in writing and they said they could not do that for me. It is unfortunate on their end over a telephone to make such promises and or statements to consumers like myself that they would be providing more HD content. Even field technicians I personally know are being told in meetings that it's on it's way and even the field techs are putting their hands in the air. At first they (Comcast) stated to me that they could not provide more HD content due to the analog stations taking up the required bandwith needed. I do believe them on that account but don't tell someone it's on it's way and give a time line that can't be kept. To me it 's a lie and if it's due to marketing on their end they are losing. We have FIOS here in this area now along with Dish and DTV and Comcast is losing a lot of customers here due to high def content and price value. That is all I am saying Bicker, I have their DOSCIS 3.0 internet and VOiP phone and I love it. I chose to go with DTV simply for the HD content I am receiving for the dollar.
