Is there a DVR (older or newer) which can provide a HDMI output without Cable Card activation? I might want this product, but I'm not interested in paying any more fees to
the Cable Company. All I want is Basic Cable channels 1-99. I get these now, but need a re-locatable device, box, or a DVR with a Cable Card and two tuners similar to the older Motorola DTC6416 (or equal) etc, which will allow an RF feed-through, similar to a splitter. The more difficult part of this is I want it to push the "un-molested signal" out the HDMI port. I suspect there is some conversion which needs to be accomplished via the electronics and/or tuners. I’m aware that there are various type of modulation schemes, 8VSB, NTSC, ATSC. clear QAM, etc. I’m hoping to find a box, device or whatever that accepts the cable RF signal the same way as my new Panasonic TV, my new Samsung Monitor/TV, and that has a HDMI out port. This will allow me the benefit of locating the device in my closet...out of sight. I can't see my TV in a closet so I need HDMI out. |

To get HD from any cable company right now or any digitally scrambled channels, you would need a cable card. I imagine you could get a PVR/Tivo with no cable card and get analog channels without paying extra for digital services?!?!
