Default new here with lots of questions

Hey

This is my first post and I am having a load of problems with my new lcd with my time warner box.

hmm..where do I begin

I just bought a samsung 1080p 120 htz lcd tv after my 32 in spectroniq crapped out.

so I replaced my spectroniq tv because the picture kept on blinking. I changed the time warner box 3 times with no luck and changed the component cables. so I just thought the trouble was the tv. So I went out bought a new tv and ran it by a HDMI cable. no blinking..awesome.

I hook up my spectroniq to an analog cable in my bedroom and it doens't blink at all....so I switched my new samsung from HMDI to the component cables I was using..and it doens't blink..jeeez did I just buy a 1300 dollar tv for nothing?? I have no idea what is causing it to blink. I tried to run my spectoniq tv by HDMI but the tv said due to licensing that this option is blocked..I still got sound and was able to look at the guide but no actually tv show pic.

my 2nd question is how do I get the most out of my samsung. when I turn on my tv on it says I'm running 1080i only at 60 htz.

Is that the limit to my time warner box? I can't figure out how to make it run at 120 hertz. even on the hd channels it says 60 hertz.

my third question is...I hooked up my Nintendo NES to the samsung and there is quite a lag from my presssing the jump button to seeing Mario jump on the screen. There is a "game mode" in which i turned on but it is still off and it make sit annoying to play any game. Is there anyway to fix this?? It doesn't do it on any other tv I own.

Thanks for reading this rant
sorry if this has been covered before

Your Spectronic is probably not HDCP compliant or the cable box required a firmware update to properly work with that TV.

my 2nd question is how do I get the most out of my samsung. when I turn on my tv on it says I'm running 1080i only at 60 htz. Correct, the signal you are getting is sent to you as 1080i at 60Hz or otherwise known as FPS (frames per second) .

Is that the limit to my time warner box? I can't figure out how to make it run at 120 hertz. even on the hd channels it says 60 hertz. You cannot as the 120 Hz figure is your TV's refresh rate and it always runs at 120Hz. You cannot turn it off or on.

my third question is...I hooked up my Nintendo NES to the samsung and there is quite a lag from my presssing the jump button to seeing Mario jump on the screen. There is a "game mode" in which i turned on but it is still off and it make sit annoying to play any game. Is there anyway to fix this?? It doesn't do it on any other tv I own. I would imagine that there is a game mode in the settings as there is on most modern TV's You would have to go into the TV menu to find it. There will also be other modes like vivid or Movie or cinema or custom, etc.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe someone else here with more experience with game machines can help you out with that.

If I remember you have only one option with the NES which is red-white and yellow (Composite). If that is correct then you need to set your TV to gaming mode. If you are setting it to gaming mode and still having the issue I think it would be your TV. What is the model number of your TV? I would be more than happy to research it for you as you have my curiousity... The majority of all new HDTV's should handle all gaming consoles.

1080i is not frames per second - that is interlace so it is fields per second - 2 fields make up one frame.

720P - that is frames per second.
