A friend of mine at work has WOW cable here in Michigan and he has the HD package and whatnot. He said he was getting great picture and sound quality when he had a regular box without a DVR and ever since he upgraded to a DVR box he said the picture quality and sound have gone down substantially and he has called tech support numerous times and they dont know wtf they are doing and cant help him.
Does anyone have an idea of why this is true? I just thought that maybe with the new box they didnt use a HDMI cable like with the old one but I dont know I havent asked him yet. thanks for any help you can provide me. |

Well if he was getting great PQ and sound before adding the HDDVR, I would suspect the DVR. Either it's defective, not configured correctly, or not connected with HDMI/Component. DeadHead68

I used to have them last summer and had an HDDVR. If I remember correct it didnt have an HDMI port. My HD box did but not the HDDVR. One thing I can tell you about WOW in Michigan is the only good thing they offer is price and even thats about the same as a Comcast promotion rate at this point. They use alot of the old Ameritech (Americast) lines for they're service and havent upgraded them in years. Theyre signal strength is extremely low compared to other companies in the area. Theyre HD selection is flat out pitiful and they're internet speeds are overrated.
Best bet for your buddy is to ditch em and go elsewhere. Keep the internet if he must and at least go dish. |

I also have WOW! with an HD DVR (8500HDC), and I think my picture quality is really quite good, especially compared to my old Dish Network. Sounds like your friend has a configuration problem somewhere

the box may only be configured to output in 720p or 480 or something. My box I had to bring up the setup menu to allow for 1080i output
