Default Scientific Atlanta 8300HD Playback Issue (Cablevision)

When I select a recorded program to playback, then press the select button to play the recorded program, the dvr goes to the playback channel screen without playing anything. The same thing happens with many of the programs I have recorded. I have already unplugged the dvr, waited a while, plugged it back in thinking it would resolve the issue, but nothing.

I have a SA 8300HDC STB from Cox that does that intermittently. My fix is to power off the box then power it back on. I had a SA 8300HD STB in the past but never saw that.

If the problem persists it may be time to swap your current SA 8300HD with a new one either by visiting the nearest Cablevision office or having a technician come out to your home to replace it.

I have the same problem with my Cablevision box. In my case, I don't just power off the box, I have to pull the power cord from the box to re-boot it. Pull the plug, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and let it boot. This could take 5-10 minutes. You'll know it's done when the clock appears on the display.

Thanks guys for your input. I have already pulled the plug and rebooted the DVR. After rebooting, it looks like it wants to play the recording but the playback channel screen reappears without playing anything. It's a shame to lose the programs recorded.

I have the same problem (comcast),
just push on the last button on the remote (that brings you to the last live channel you where watching), then push it again (it will bring you back the the dvr), now the recording will play.
I've had a few of the SA 8300HD boxes and they all have done the same thing. It's the lousy software the SA uses. There are so many problems with the boxes and the lame software that goes with it.
