I have a new SA 8240 HD DVR set top box (STB) with an HDMI out port connected to a new Sony STR-DA4400ES receiver HDMI input and HDMI out from the Sony to a HDMI input on a Samsung UN46B8000 46" 1080p LED HDTV. The TWC STB does not appear to allow HDMI switching and only works if the TV is directly connected to the STB.
Several folks I have talked to suggest that this is a common problem with SA HD STBs and that although this could be fixed with a software update, that TWC has not bothered to address this issue. I had the same problem with a SA8300 HD STB and so TWC gave me the 8240 to try out but made no promises about a fix. I would really like to find a combination that works as the receiver upconverts HDMI inputs to 1080p on its HDMI out port. Has anyone solved this HDMI switching problem without changing to a satellite provider? |

That is a common problem. Use component for cable, and coaxial digital to your stereo. I am sorry to say there is no solution.
