Question No guide menu on HD channels? (6412)

I recently signed up with Comcast, and I got two of the Moto DCT 6412 HD DVR's. On one of them, when I tune to an HD channel, I lose all menu-related functions: the guide will not come up, the info will not show, etc.

I have this DVR hooked up to a 19" Mitsubishi TV via S-Video. All menus display fine on SD channels, but become inaccessible when I tune to an HD channel.

On my other DVR (same model, also hooked up to a non-HD television via S-video), the guide, info and menus display fine, even on HD channels.

Do I have a defective unit, or is the firmware/software version different on these two DVR's, or what?

BTW: the panasonic HDTV mentioned in my sig is in the shop right now--that's why both DVR's are hooked to standard def TV's at the moment.

From page #35 of the Motorola User's guide:

Quote:
The DCT* cannot generate graphics on all video outputs
at all times. If the DCT* is set to 1080i, 720p, or 480p
output format, graphics are only available on the HD
video outputs (DVI and component video). If the DCT* is
set to 480i, graphics are available on all video outputs.
If the DCT* is connected to a standard definition TV,
verify that the DCT* is configured to use the 480i output mode.
One of your units, probably the one you used with your Panasonic HD TV, is not set to 480i output mode.

Go to the Motorola web site and download a copy of the User's Guide.

Thanks, man. That was my problem. This DVR has actually never been hooked up to the HDTV, because I just switched to Comcast last week, and my TV has been at the repair shop for a month. --so I don't know why the DVR was set to 1080i, but it was.
