It isn't a matter of it not meaning anything.

I cannot play my sound system loud past 10PM here, because I'm in a condo; if instead I chose to live in a single family home on five acres, then I would have more flexibility in that regard. I don't blame anyone else for the circumstances I put myself in.

On my statement every month I get charged for one TIVO box. I have two of them but the deal that I have with Comcast they are only charging me for one TIVO box. I do not know what the breakdown is because it is one charge.

I have never been on a basic package from Comcast since the beginning. I cannot speak for any other market than mine and what I have been billed for in the past and currently. I have always had all 3 services from them therefore have always been billed as a package.

I will stand corrected if someone here in my area is getting charged for the HD channels they receive. I do believe if anything they might get charged a lease fee for the use of the HD box, not for the access to the HD content as satellite had done when I had Dish.

I just called phoned Comcast and again was told that if there is an HD channel in the package you choose from them you automatically receive it as long as you have an HD receiver.

And that's the way it is here, in Mass., as well. No separate charge for HD.

That statement from Comcast is cryptic and probably misleading (gee, funny that,) What they might be saying is that you can RECEIVE what they choose to give you in clear QAM...a few channels including your locals, well MOST of them anyway. You can get that with your "HD receiver." BUT if you want all the HD version of the programs that you are buying with DIGITAL STARTER you need OUR HD BOX, which is essence becomes a decoder: FOR A MONTHLY FEE!

To settle this, does ANYONE have Digital Starter from Comcast and can get the HD version of channels like HS, TBS, USA, AMC, SciFi, HGTV WITHOUT buying their box...mine is $15.95 in the New York City area?

Anyone, Comcast Digital Starter without an addition box rental fee? Any area at all? (Not talking initil promo period here either.)

My definition of arrogant would be Comcast employees masquerading as customers praising the company. But then, who ELSE would ever praise them?

It is mind-boggling how self-centered that line of reasoning is. Essentially, you're asserting that anything that doesn't case Comcast in a bad light must therefore be inaccurate, and that anyone who disagrees with you must be an employee of the company.

Beyond that, you're actually wrong. As you've been told many times, Comcast pricing differs in different parts of the country, and Comcast does not charge extra for HD in many areas. They just don't. It isn't misleading. It isn't cryptic. It is clear, concise and deterministic.

I cannot speak for Jeff, but I've never been an employee of Comcast, and I doubt I would ever be an employee of Comcast. Comcast employees wouldn't post what I post about them. Beyond that, I regularly post the same sorts of comments regarding DirecTV, Charter, Suddenlink, and the rest.

I have Digital Starter. I get the HD versions of channels like TNT, USA, AMC, Sci Fi and Food Network, WITHOUT "buying their box". $0 here. Live with it.

There is no line item for the HD STB on your bill?

Well I called Comcast about that line item I didn't understand:

Digital Service - additional outlet = $6.95/mo.

And here is what they told me . . .

When you get Digital Servce in your home, one TV is included in the price. If you add a 2nd TV then you pay $6.95 extra (for Digital Service) for the 2nd TV no matter what the STB is. If I added a 3rd TV - I would pay another $6.95/mo (total would be $13.90).

So you have proved what I have been saying. I do not work for Comcast by the way. I drive fuel trucks for a living (diesel deliveries). I am not defending or criticizing Comcast either. Comcast is a business and EVERY business has to make a profit to survive right? That would be common sense.

I choose Comcast because for ME and again I say ME, it is the right option. Of course I want to pay less for what I receive who the heck wouldn't????

Man why would you pick on Bicker for being a Comcast employee anyway? Again he is another person with his point of view and I applaud him for it...

It seems like some people put Comcast to be the evil empire for crying out loud. If you don't like Comcast, geez you have other options out there. Or maybe it is just human nature for some to really want to hate something in life and stick with it, I dunno...

Jeff
