Default cablevision deleting 10 more stations..

well this morning i see that cablevision is removing 10 more stations, forcing me to get a box for every other room with a tv(so far i only have one), am switching to fios today! i know fios is the same deal, but i'm really pi**ed at cablevision for doing this in a sneaky manner before the june deadline.

You're mistaken. There is no June deadline applicable to cable.

What constitutes "sneaky"? They provided advance notification, right? They gave you the opportunity to cancel your service, right? That's all anyone could expect them to do.

Remember: It is your friends and neighbors who are prompting Cablevision to do this, by demanding more HD channels, faster HSI, etc. Rest assured: They're not doing this to annoy you, personally.

Can I get a clarification. You say removing 10 channels. Are they getting rid of them altogether or moving them to digital? I think your post infers the latter but I just want to be clear. I already have the HD boxes on my sets so if it is a move to the digital package I should be alright. If they are getting rid of stations, I need to find another option. Fios isn't available to me and satellite is questionable because of the 2 year contract in a rented house. Thanks for your information.

He means digital. Basically he won't get the channels anymore with the cable line going right to the TV rather than having to pay for a box. I hear ya, OP, but it's not going to make me switch to FIOS.

The person who pays your cable bill was notified.

You were mistaken about what the contract promised you.

My cable company broadcasts changes on the local CATV station. I noticed two additional spots showed up on my HD selection and I tuned to the CATV channel to see that ESPNU HD and E!HD had been added to HD, they were moved from SD, but I didn't watch either.

I rarely watch SD analog anyhow, its so 2000's!

OP, did you check your bill? From my April Statement:

Quote:
As of 4/30/09, a digital cable box or CableCARD is needed to receive ABC Family, AMC, BET, CNN Headline News, C-SPAN (also available with a QAM tuner), fuse, History, Lifetime, MSNBC, MTV, MTV2, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and WE. These channels will remain in your existing package, and they will continue to be available with your current digital cable box or CableCARD.
I don't know if there is a notice timetable. I usually get my bill around the 20th of the month, so this was like 10 days notice for me.

When you're set up for online bill payment, you gain online access to the bills, which show the notifications that you've overlooked. They are available for six months after issued.
Quote:
When you register for Online Bill Pay, you will no longer receive paper bills in the mail; you will receive a monthly e-mail notifying you that your online statement is available.
When you receive those notifications, you should not only go to pay your bill, but you should also open the statement, and read it completely.
