what channels are you lookiing for? try turning the box off and quickly press menu on the remote and select 1080. the programming has to be broadcasted in 1080.

It should. Some boxes change the menu option of 1080i or 720 to 480i at random times. maybe you have one of those defective boxes like I have.

do what the last poster stated and that should fix the issue. remember the steps in case the box changes the settings again.

You might look at this help page...

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_...rola_DVR/Setup

Make sure your using HDMI or component cables between the set top box and your TV. Composite and S-Video will always be in 480i...

You must not be using a Vizio upstairs. Not that this is your problem. But Vizio PQ isnt that great in my opinion. Sounds like a bad dct. Try taking the box from upstairs and moving it downstairs. If your picture looks better, then you know for sure that its the dct, if not...
