Northland Cable
Generally happy with the service. Not so happy with the choices (15 HD channels and NO added ones expected). I do not have triple package, tried their internet and found out that when you live in an area with lots of junior and senior high school students, cable internet is worthless after about 7:00 pm. Too many users, my speed would fall off to dial-up speeds! Most annoying issue is that they don't give a crap about competing with dish, they won't add more channels or add VOD or anything else. |

Comcast Northern New Jersey.
Am I happy with them: NO! Reasons: 1. PRICE: minimum basic with no box: $42 plus $12 more for 5 very UNspecial channels like AMC, TCM, Discovery, TNT...$10 more if you want the HD box. That's $64 for BASIC HD cable (no BBCA, Hallmark, WE, Encore, Disney, Toon, Biography, LOGO, etc., they cost much more...and THEN $20 apiece for the real premiums like HBO, SHO.) Some People are paying $140/mo without internet or phone, just TV! 2. Unnecessary encryptions of most QAM chaanels. I have no choice, it's Comcast or rabbit eats. |

Comcast in NW Suburubs of Chicago. Overall I am very happy with my service. The price is cheaper than either Directv or Dish. I can't think of an HD channel I would be interested in watching that Comcast doesn't have. And the PQ is just as good as I get via OTA.
I have the Triple Play. Internet is extremely fast and the phone service performs as it should. DeadHead68

Comcast Double Play: Metro Detroit
Happy with the service? - Mostly although I think its absurd to charge $15 more a month for bio, g4 and 15 other various channels. Picture quality is good and theres a good selection of HD. Internet speeds are great and I havent had any down time. Happy with the price? - For now but only because Im on the promo rate until September. My bill with 2 HD/DVR's, HBO and Cinemax and internet is $105 a month. After the promo ends it jumps to about $180 a month. At that point Ill most likely try and get U-Verse if its available by then. If not Ill either have my wife sign up for Comcast to get a promo rate or go to Dish and switch to WideOpenWest internet. Overall cost is roughly $130 for that combo. |

Cox cable here in the Oklahoma City market.
Yes we are generally very happy with the service. At last count we had 54 HD channels (unless I miscounted). In our case we have a three service bundle with Cox, ie. TV, phone and internet. We would always like to get more for less money but like anything so far the cost is within our what we are willing to pay threshold.

TW in sw ohio, where they've made my cable card obsolete, and forced a settop box on me, which today went on the blink. Just realized I'm paying over 1500 bucks a year for various "tiers" and roadrunner, and really I only watch 15-20 different channels and use the computer. Gonna return everything and put the cable line back into the set and shave some $$ off the bill. Its starting to seem absurd to pay for all the things I DON'T want, like 5 different QVC channels, etc. ect...

Some People are paying $140/mo without internet or phone, just TV! I agree with this poster which is the reason we just switched over to FIOS within the past month. We live in the Philly suburbs (Delaware County) and I was thrilled when FIOS came to my area. We switched over as soon as it became available. We'd had Comcast (once Suburban Cable) since 1981. They were the only deal in town except for RCN which became available in the late 90's. However, RCN does not carry Comcast Sportsnet (FIOS does - for now). That was a deal-breaker for us. For many reasons, we did not want to go w/satellite. We had the Basic Extended plan w/Comcast which was okay at one time. But they began dropping channels and the choices became pretty lame. Their customer service was nothing to write home about either. We are very pleased with FIOS. We have had only minor issues and the picture is great. Switching was a good decision.

Had cablevision and hated them. The software for the dvr, and hd boxes are from the stoneage. Price was getting way to high, after my one year of introductory service. They really need to take a look at sat companies and also Time Warner's cable box software. The guide and switching between channels was painfully slow, and they don't have a lot of the features that other's have. No search for programs, and no custom guides, just to name a few.

I have Time Warner in Hemet,CA and they are ok. We have all 3 services and they are pretty good with maintaining service with the exception of the phone service. It is off from time time, a little more then I would like. In about a year I won't need it because we will all have cell's by then. Just started to use the free HD service and so far so good. Very impressed with the quality.

I'm with Time Warner in Brooklyn NY.
I've only got the TV, no cable or phone. I don't really understand how the levels of service work, but I get all the regular channels, all the high-def channels and 4 premiums for about $90 or so. Don't like them much, hate paying for TV at all really, but because of how my apartment is situated, there aren't any other options right now. I've installed FIOS to about 4000 apts, but have no info on when it will come anywhere near my co-op. Things I don't like about the service? I'm not sure what this is called, but I think they have really low color resolution. I can see the bands where similar shades of color meet. It was annoying on the old Trinitron, but so much more sinful now that I'm watching "hi-def" channels. WTF is that all about? It's like watching mpegs on the computer. Grrr! Anyone else see this problem, or is it just me? The other big thing is how often the picture and/or sound freezes, pixelates, looses synch. WTF am I blowing nearly $100 a month on?

I'm with FiveStar - I have FiOS. Yes, I have the triple play. I love their service. Excellent PQ, a large number of HD channels (107 available in my market) and fast, reliable internet (no slow periods, no throttling, and no download caps).
Probably my biggest peave is the price for the set top boxes. |

Comcast does a good job at BB around me neck of the woods. Cable TV, nah, they can keep it. To pricey compared to other and in me opinion, better services offered by the sat's all around. We pay comcast around $60 a month for internet and they "toss" in basic cable which nobody watches. The basic is nothing more than informercials and junk they can't sell otherwise, analog btw.
One ofthe main reasons we dropped comcast cable was the seemingly unending price increases with no meritable increase in value. Our household is completely digital and we were looking forward to comcast increasing digital service which did not and has not happened. The only new offer of any sort is thier lumpy phone service. No thank you. To make me rant short, we joined the ranks of thousands of others that dropped comcast cable tv due to - poor customer service (different story) - price increase (no increase in value) - poor HD selection - better service and selection elsewhere - comcasts un-relenting stance that it's shareholders are more important than it's customers (loosing customers should make shareholders unhappy)- and me biggest peeve is the crappy tiers they offer. We would be willing to pay a premium and above for a tier where we could purchase by channel. If me could select 15-20 channels of content that me family wishes to watch, we would gladly pay a premium - without having to "subsidize" any infomercials. |
