Smile Does Commiecast internet only block cable signals?

Can anybody help me ?? I currently have the commiecast three fer
phone, cable and internet package in the Boston area. I am thinking of dropping all except the internet service. I have a MyHd-130 with qam tuning and currently I find all the unencripted channels. Some in
digital HD along with the standard ones. If I cancel the cable and phone will all the cable channels disapper or will some make it through? I was told by someone that they CANNOT block basic cable if you have internet service coming in to the house. Is this true or do can the put some sort cable block on the line?

Also does anybody know a way I can keep my Phone number and transfer it to a VIOP account ?? If this is not the correct forum for this question could someone hyperlink me to the correct one
Many Thanks in advance

They can put a filter in the line to block the basic channels if they want to. They don't here in the Chicago market. If I were to have Internet only, they add the price of basic cable to the Internet price therefore they don't add a filter.

You should be able to keep your same number if you change your phone service to Vonage or another VOIP provider.

Thanks for the reply. But do you know for a fact that they can actually selectivly block everything but the net? Have you seen them do it anywhere in a Private /non business account?

Thanks-- Bohanna

Yes, I know that they can do it and I have seen them do it. If your internet price goes up when you drop the other services, they probably won't put a filter in. But I can't say for sure.

Why would they give you something for free. They are in business to make money. If you remove the filter to get it for free then it called service theft.
