Default SA 8300HD w/ HDMI Switch Removes DVR Capability

I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD and a Monoprice 2x1 Manual HDMI Switch (p.id 2786). When I run the HDMI cable from the cable box through the switch, the DVR functionality is removed. The guide and recorded programs list still works, but buttons such as play, pause, stop, FF, etc. do absolutely nothing.

Another issue I am having is a lag time when changing between HD stations. The screen will flicker for about 3 seconds before switching to the proper resolution.

Any ideas?

-Thanks!

You are experiencing some of the known issues with HDMI. Adding a component in the path, ie switch, can add agrevation. Sounds like there is a handshake problem between the TV and DVR with the switch in play. Try component.
