Default Not Getting Some HD channels with Comcast

Okay I have no idea what is going on. I just bought a Philips 42" 42PFL3603D/F7 TV. I hooked it up to the Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDDVR Comcast gave me with an HDMI cable. Now for some reason I cannot get certain HD channels that I should be getting. I can get most HD channels and all SD channels but there are about 5 that I am not getting, including NBCHD, LifeHD, A&EHD, GolfHD, and one or two more. I have the premium package so it's not that. I have also tried switching to component cables to see if that was the problem and still got the same problem. Help!!!

Welcome to High Def Forum.

You do not describe what you see. Is the screen completely black? Is there a message on the screen? Are the channels visible in the TV guide? I would call Comcast and bug them. They might just send a signal to the box that would give you your channels instantly.

Perhaps your box is not properly authorized. Follow Joe's advice: Call Comcast and have them send a signal to your box.

When I turn to the channels the screen is completely black. Comcast has sent signals to my box, and the channels appear on SD and on the guide. I can even record the channel, of course it is black when I play it back though.

Sounds like you have a bad box. You'll need to swap it out for one that works.

Default Still not working

Well I had a tech. come out to see what they could figure out. They couldn't fix it of course, but they said line connecting the cable to the house had become corroded and needs to be replaced, he said that might be the problem. I am hoping that that will fix the problem, and maybe even make my overall picture a little better, but I doubt it. I am really starting to hate Comcast.

How long has it been since that cable was run to your house? (Figure that it could corrode that much time after any other company ran it to your house.)
