If you are suggesting cannot is not a correct word, it is perfectly acceptable.

As far as cables are concerned both HDMI and component are high quality video cables which are both capable of delivering higher video quality than any current 1080p display is capable of. The limitations are in the equipment being used and not the cables themselves. So you need to decide which is best based on your own equipment, sometimes one cable works better than the other and very often both HDMI and component cables work identical.

Blu-ray players should use HDMI for best results as no Blu-ray player is capable of upconverting std DVD via component cable due to copy laws.

Tuners (cable boxes, DVRs, etc) often work better when using component cables. This is because HDMI has "digital handshake" issues and HDMI must make a new "digital handshake" between the TV and source everytime the channel changes or input changes. This can result in slower channel changes and sometimes other "digital handshake" connection problems when using HDMI.

you will see a difference BUT, before anyone jumps on me and takes away my geek card finish my statment. the difference will be there at first because HDMI and Component's native picture look different. If you calibrate both inputs then the difference is so minor that pretty much nobody will ever see it.

you need to change the settings otherwise you might see that HDMI gives off better dark scenes and sharpness but once setup right neither should look any different.

most people just setup the tv and never mess with anything else. that's pretty dumb if you ask me. i mean they are paying how much for a tv and not doing anything to get the most out of it. that's like buying a high performance car and giving it the cheap gas all the time or useing the cheap store brand oil.

I know I am not that technically literate, but I feel even I could get this right. Simple plug and play right?? or do I have to do something else besides just plugging in the cables??

My TV is set 1080i, and the HD is great, but I hear it is so much better with the HDMI cable.

Is this BS?? or am I the worst hooker upper on the planet??
