Washington, D.C. (July 9, 2008) -- Time Warner Cable later this month will add Biography HD and four Starz high-def channels in the Brooklyn and Queens areas of New York.
The cable operator made the announcement last Friday at its web site.
The new channels, which include Starz HD, Starz Comedy HD, Starz Edge HD and Starz Kids & Family HD, are expected to be added on July 23.
Time Warner has been aggressively expanding its high-def lineup in the greater New York area, in part due to new competition from telco Verizon's FiOS service which has promised up to 150 HD channels by year's end.
In other news, Time Warner says its carriage agreement with Universal HD will soon expire in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Mount Vernon. If the agreement can not be extended, the cable operator, says Universal HD could be taken off the air.
