After unloaded a nice serving of new HD channels in Jacksonville and along the Treasure Coast (not to mention way down south), we're thrilled to see Comcast showing a little affection for the panhandle. According to a resident who scanned over The News Herald this morning, Panama City, Florida will be getting an impressive 13 new high-def options over the next two months. Although specific go-live dates weren't mentioned, you folks can count on seeing quite the boost in your lineup remarkably soon. Head on past the jump for the full list of newcomers (spoiler: SciFi HD is included!).

New HD channels coming to Panama City, Florida on Comcast:

Disney HD
History HD
Animal Planet HD
HGTV HD

Yes. We have been stuck at 17 channels for a couple of years and they did add 2 last year (bringing us to 19). However other areas are far ahead of us here already.

With the new announced additions (live on May 30th) we will have 32 HD total. still, it's far behind D* or even E*. Now Knology needs to get busy here and add some. They haven't added a HD channel since March of '05! (ESPN2 & TNT). They are moving 2 channels to digital this month and hinted at further channel changes coming so maybe Knology is getting ready but still.... both are still far behind D* and E*

D* should also have their latest sat online soon to add even more HD channels.

I just bought me a new 46 XBR 4 and loving it.

I just checked the # of video (720 etc ) on FIOS and it only showed 1080 i.

Do FIOS offer 1080 (P) ?? if yes, i might missing something with my tv to set it for 1080 P.

second,

I m paying for basic channels ( not hbo etc ) cuz we never have time for movies.

I dont see many HD and i m hoping FIOS will keeping add to some HD such as SPIKE HD, and few others..

1080i is the input. Output of your set is 1080p.

What good are HD channels if pq is crap. This is the case here in Portland, OR. Sure looks like standard broadcast to me.

I've got all those HD channels in my area now. With all those channels will come high compression to the point where it reduces the pq (as has been already mentioned). Also, be prepared as there will almost certainly be audio issues to accompany the pq problem, as is the case with my service.
