Hi I just got the Comcast DVR and I must say its a very cool box, except for one thing , which I have heard others allude to before, its very noisy. Evidently the hardrive when bufering makes a wishy clicking sound {like a clock} . Would not mind if it was low , but its definetly noticable unless you a watching a loud program like a sporting event for example. Its the Motorola dual tuner DVR. My question is are all the Comcast DVR boxes very noisy or are some better than others in terms of a quieter operation ? Thanks.

I've had two DCT6412s. The first one made noticeable clicking noises, but they weren't objectionable. When the 1st started rebooting after using the remote control buttons every 6 six or so presses, I got a 2nd one. I was surprised how quiet it was compared to the first one.
Not surprising, some hard drives are just noisier than others. If the noise is that objectionable, just ask for another one. |
