Default Switched to a Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC from an 8300 HD. What a mistake I think!

MOnday I went to my local office and exchanged my SA 8300 HD DVR box for the newer 8300 HDC.
The only reason I even did it is because on the 8300 HD, if I turned it off while on an HD channel, when I turned it back on, on any HD channel, it would be stuch in 480i. I would have to switch to any SD channel and go back to HD and it would go to 1080i HD. Not a very big deal, but I had seen some friends that had the new box and it didn`t do that.
Well, as soon as I got it home and hooked it up I could see a huge difference. My digital channels look like they are grainey. They almost look analog. The channel changes are much slower and I had it set to record a movie and when it started, the program I was watching froze up.
The biggest disappointment is the picture quality. I called Comcast and they are sending someone out. I wish I would have read about this new box first because I would have NEVER exchanged my other one. I want my old one back unless they can do something about it.
My whole point of this post is to make anyone aware about this if they are considering going to the 8300HDC from the 8300HD.
From what I can see, just about everything in any previous posts seem to be true. BEWARE
