Default RE: My kingdom for a working tuner...

Maybe someone can help in this matter.
I have two Comcast Hi-Def Boxes in the house with appropriate service attached.
Now the issue, I have in our family room, for the grandchildren, an old Sony 25XBR who's picture is still going "strong" [but has since lost it's tuner functions and audio amp, thus not worth fixing, but not worth discarding]. When we had a basic box hooked to it, I used that to provide the tuner function and audio outputs without problem. Now we have switched to the two Hi-Defs and applied them to other TVs with the Sony in need of a tuner.
I know we could use a VCR or DVR as a tuner, but with the 109/127 limited channel range; we also would like ot have the ability to hit the 400's since we would like to have the availability of the Music Channels. Obviously, the VCR/DVR would not go up that high. Is there an easy fix as I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

The short answer is no. Digital services are available only through digital converter boxes, and to preclude subscribers from getting service that they aren't paying for, is typically encrypted, requiring either the cable company's own equipment be used, or cable company-provided CableCards.

I have a DCT3216 I- Is there a newer model available that is better? Mine works great-no problems through the HDMI. But if there is a newer and better model I would like to know.

Though there is no real advantage of the DCH-series boxes over the DCT-series boxes.
