I've got an 8300HD in my living room and an 8300HDC in my bedroom, to go with my TWC and my Samsung HDTVs. All connections are via HDMI.
I was able to set the 8300HD to only play 1080. This allows the tv to do the converting and get a great picture (the cable box conversion is not great). However, when I try to change the same settings on my 8300HDC, I get a message saying that "no changes can be made when connected via HDMI cable." The 8300HDC box is set up to convert 1080, 720, and 480. And the picture quality on some of those channels, especially the ones in 480, is not great. Is there a way around this? Isn't it strange that I can change the settings on the 8300HD, but not the 8300HDC? Any help or advice? |

My advice is to swap your 8300hdc box for an 8300hd because they are having nothing but problems with the new hdc software.

So, I guess I'm SOL? No one knows any way to change the settings. My picture on my 37 inch in the living room is very good on SD channels. But the 32 inch in the bedroom (the one with the 8300HDC box) has pretty disappointing SD pictures as the box is sending the signal at 480.
