Here are the channels being added and some being dropped
Manhattan, Brooklyn/Queens & Mount Vernon Time Warner Cable’s agreements with programmers to carry their services routinely expire from time to time. We are usually able to obtain renewals or extensions of such agreements, and carriage of programming services is discontinued only in rare circumstances. The following agreements with programmers are due to expire soon, and we may be required to cease carriage of one or more of these services in the near future: Azteca America, Chinese Channel, Chinese Cinema, CNN On Demand, Court TV On Demand, Encore, Encore Action, Encore Drama, Encore Love, Encore Mystery, Encore Western, Encore WAM, GAC On Demand, HGTV, HITN, Sci Fi Channel, Sleuth, Starz, Starz Cinema, Starz Comedy, Starz Edge, Starz Kids & Family, Supercanal, TBS On Demand, TNT On Demand, The Arabic Channel, RTVi, RAI, NGTV, TV Japan, Universal HD, and USA Network. In addition from time to time we make certain changes in the services that we offer in order to better serve our customers. The following changes are planned for customers in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens & Mt. Vernon: Effective November 15, 2007: Fox Sports Net NY HD will be launched on channel 748 (ch. 759 in Mt Vernon) and National Geographic HD will be launched on ch. 765 (ch. 766 in Mt Vernon). CSPAN2 will be added on channel 148 (except in Mt Vernon). Additionally, in Mt Vernon FX will be launched on channel 38. Effective November 21, 2007 the price of the digital sports tier will increase from '.95/mth to $2.95/mth. Effective December 13, 2007: We will launch Too Much For TV on ch. 327 ($14.99/mth) and Disney On Demand on ch. 1049 ($3.99/mth). We will drop AOL Music On Demand (ch.1002) and GAC On Demand (ch.1019) because of elimination by the respective programmers. WAM! will change from channels 87 and 838 to 258 and only be available as part of the Encore Multichannel Premium (a service level change). CSPAN will be added to ch. 147 and CSPAN3 will move from ch. 130 to 149. Universal HD will move from ch. 740 to 734 (except in Mt Vernon). Additionally, in Mt Vernon we will launch CSPAN2 on ch. 148. Effective December 13, 2007 in Woodside, Queens (ACQ) only: We will launch M HD on ch. 720, History HD on ch. 740, A&E HD on ch. 746, Food HD on ch. 750, Lifetime Movies HD on ch. 762, HGTV on ch. 764, and TMC HD on ch. 778, VS HD on ch. 794 and NHL HD on ch. 795.

when will those new HD channels launched for "Woodside only" be available for Manhattan? it's extremely unfair.
btw, I had recently been a part of an executive level meeting in a major local tv network station(I'm not allowed to disclose any specific info. such as names). Lets just say alot of the top guys got together(tv networks, cable/satellite providers, movie studios..etc) and discussed the topic of HD(specifically for broadcasting). And guess which company didn't show up!! |

I live in Flushing and it appears that TWC has added National Geographic HD on Ch. 765. I also looks like there are some other channels in the 700s that are showing "no data." Maybe those will be new channels as well. I'd like to see the history channel in HD.

I don't understand why Woodside only? This makes absolutely no sense to me. Woodside is only a few miles from me and they get tons more HD.

I agree with you dolphy, I'm a few miles from Woodside too(the other direction), and I wish I have those new HD channels too. I don't really have any options in Manhattan other than TWC. I guess I should be happy with NGC in HD.

this is only a guess but woodside was the head end of american cable vision of queens which time warner bought a number of years ago so my guess would be that beside woodside all the former ACQ areas will get the new HD channels

I didn't live in NYC when they had ACQ so I'm not sure which areas had it. I'm sure at some point all 5 boroughs will get more HD, it's just bad that TWC doesn't even address if/when/where.

If I remember correctly ACQ covered Astoria Long Island City Sunnyside Elmhurst Woodside, and a portion of Flushing, any one else remember the rest of the service Area, . Acq was the first to bring Cable to western queens late 1980's prior to then Only Manhattan had cable service

So you being in Astoria, will you get the new HD channels that Woodside gets? I live in North Flushing by Bayside. I guess we wait until December.

great so the rest of us around the 5 boros get nada, except NatGeoHD and that being said, i don't know if it's just the programming i've happened to catch on 765, but that PQ hardly looks HD. I was watching something on there the other day and it looked the same as the SD feed, without the letterbox. Its looked like that everytime i've flipped over to it...

Well I'm in Queens East. So I guess I'll be getting the shaft from TWC. I live in a building so no option for DirectTV. One would think that with all the houses in my neighborhood that TWC would want to compete with DirectTV but I guess that's not the case.
