Default Comcast poor NBC HD quality

Hi,
I live in the Philadelphia area and have Comcast. They NBC HD is nearly unwatchable to me. It has blurring and ghosting especially pronounced when people/objects in a show or sporting event are moving fast on the screen. I heard this was bleed in from a feed from the WCAU weather channel which is affiliate of local NBC news I believe.
Does anyone elsewhere have this issue with NBC HD? or just locally in Philly area?
Either way I can't believe Comcast has not received numerous complaints and has not fixed this yet. When calling customer service they play dumb, as if they are not aware of the issue.
Anyone else notice this problem or offer a solution?
Thanks,
Tim

Seems local. No such problem with NBC HD here in MA.

I had Comcast went to Verizon and can see a difference even in SD channels.
With Comcast the channels are "milky" with Verizon they are at least bearable.
Last time I had Comcast - ABC had a voice sync problem - the mouths moving weren't in time with the sound from the TV. lol

I'm in Lancaster County about 70 miles west of you. We get WCAU on the analog tier, but our HD version of NBC comes from the local affiliate WGAL. They are commonly called Channel 8, but I get it at 8-1 on my QAM tuner and 232 through my Comcrap/Moto STB. I would suggest trying this test: Use your ATSC tuner temporarily. If you're anywhere near the transmitter, even a cheap indoor antenna could pick it up. Believe it or not, I can get 2 locals just by attaching a 6 foot coax cable to the antenna input and pointing it different directions! Then you'll know if it's the WCAU feed or something in the retransmission from Comcrap. I will say that the 720p signals I get from ESPN/ABC/FOX beat the 1080i signals from NBC/CBS/PBS/CW. CBS for me is worse than NBC, but it doesn't seem as bad as what you are describing.

As for their customer service, they're not just playing dumb ...

Default NBC Philly HD Quality Sucks

I see no posts here in awhile, but who else is having issues? I just got an HDTV and most of the NBC shows are horrible. Medium is ridiculous. Ghosting, smearing, random images appearing....Freaky. I saw similar problems on Las Vegas, Law and Order. Leno and the NBC10 news seem to be ok though. Anyone else see that?

Has anyone got an explaination from NBC or Comcast? It's definately not my TV...all other stations are great. WHYY is the best HD i've ever seen.

It's not NBC or Comcast, because I have both here, and its fine. So figure that the problem is your local affiliate, your local area (head-end, exterior cabling), your home wiring, or your tuner.

Note that just because some channels are okay doesn't mean they all will be. Different channels are transmitted on different frequencies and some wiring issues affect some frequencies while not affecting others.

I'm in Philly too, and honestly, my NBC HD isn't bad at all. I actually thought out of the 3 channels that were broadcasting football, NBC's looked the best. Guess I'm lucky.

Default Not all of NBC

But it's not ALL of NBC HD broadcasting. So far, I only see these serious problems on their primetime shows, and some are better than others. Las Vegas has some trails, but was very watcheable, whereas medium was completely unwatcheable. I saw the problem with Law and Order too.

But Leno is fine (very bright, but fine), and the NBC 10 news is fine, and the commercials are fine.

For those who are saying NBC looks fine in their area...Are you actually watching some of the shows I mentioned above, or just news, sports, and Leno, which seem good?

I've been watching Medium and ER. If you want, watch Chuck on Thursday and we'll compare notes on Friday.

I occasionally check out the news, but the regulars I watch on NBC are Medium, 30 Rock (when it was on), & American Gladiators.
