Question Espn And Cbs Hd

Im trying to figure out why majority of the programs on CBS and ESPN HD are not in full screen. Like with CBS and ESPN i dont think i watched a College Bball game in full screen yet, but if i was to watch sportscenter it would be fullscreen. On ESPN when it not in full screen it has the black ESPN side bars and CBS just has the black bars. I have COX Cable in Hamptonroads,Va and i have the HD DVR box using the DVI cable.

I believe it's simply because they do not have enough equipment to go around yet to cover everything in HD . This will take time and money. We're in a transition phase but it's getting better every day. FOX covered all of their NFL action this past year in HD. And with just one game a week for ESPN (Sunday) and ABC (Monday) those two had no problem with HD coverage. But I noticed a lot of the CBS games were 4:3 letterboxed with bars (digital, but not HD).

But you'll see a lot of "March Madness" in Hi-Def, especially once they get to the Sweet 16 and only have to cover 4 venues instead of the 8 on opening weekend. And I'd bet dollars to donuts that the Final Four will be in crystal clear 16:9 widescreen 1080i HD for the Saturday Semis and the Monday championship.

Bottom line - - hang in there. It can only improve .

Default let's hope

There is nothing wrong with your TV, EspnHD just sucks right now. Hopefully they will buy whatever equipment they need and give us the ultimate sports channel in true widescreen HD.

It's because the programs you're watching are not being broadcast in HD format. Not everything on ESPN HD is in HD yet.
