Default FOX HD SA8300-DVR problem

It started this monday when I recorded the show 24 on FOX HD. When we went to play it back on Tuesday night it was recorded in about 5 or 6 sections and all in different lengths. It was like 7 mins and it stopped and then 12 more mins and then it stopped again and then 2 mins and then it stopped again and so on. It was very wierd. I checked the DVR box and figured out seeing as we had recored a few other shows on different HD stations without a hitch that it was only the FOX HD station that was having the problem so I called the cable co. and they rebooted the box and I recorded a show later on that night and it seemed to be fine until the next night when we recorded American Idol on FOX HD and it did the same thing and then last night when I rebooted it myself and then recorded another show on Fox HD and not only did it record in a bunch of different sections it also made us loose FOX HD totally when it stopped at it's different intervals. The screen would go black and we'd have nothing but if I went to the non hd Fox it was playing fine. I was planning on recording the Superbowl tomorrow because we live right outside of Boston and we are HUGE Pats and we are having party and you sometimes miss portions of the game when you have a house full of people. Well I certainly don't want the box screwing up and loosing FOX HD during our party and or while recording the game. The cable company is absolutely useless so has anyone had or heard of this problem and what did they do to fix it short of swapping the box out because I'd rather not do that because we have a bunch of really good HD movies saved on it. Thank you in advance because everytime I have had a problem it was solved here and not by calling the cable company because they seem to know nothing about HD at all.

I had the same problem with "24" and House. This was also reported by someone on the AVS forum along with some reports of audio fluctuations on FOX HD early last week. I haven't had any problem since Tuesday, so I'm hoping it's been resolved by the station and not an issue with the cable. My cable provider is Charter in MA. Good luck, and GoPats!!

Default Hmmmmm...............

I didn't think it was just me. After checking out the AVS forum I found out that there were many people having the same problem and they all seemed to be having it on only FOX HD too. Thanks for the response and the heads up on the AVS forum.

PS. Just one more sleep until the big game and I can't wait....

Default Same problem

I had the same problem when recording Idol last week. The recording was split into six oddly times segments.

Default Happened Again!!!

Well, it happened again with the Super Bowl. Not only did the DVR recording fragment into a bunch of segments, the signal froze during the post game show. Luckily I was able to click over to my OTA feed. It's just FOX HD through my cable provider that exhibits these symptoms. Time to call the cable company, although I don't expect much.

Default Same here

I tried to record the game but it started recording it in small sections again so I gave up. I had a lot of signal problems during the game and I lost the signal totally during the postgame so I flipped over and watched it on the FOX SD broadcast which looks like ass on my TV. I have tried everything from splitting the cable and going direct to the TV's tuner to running a S-Video cable to trying the RCA's to improve the SD quality on my end but while it does look a little better the PQ looked 1000 times better on my old 55" Sony HI Scan non Hi Def RPTV. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the SD PQ on my new $4000 TV........

Default Same problem again!

Yup, me too. I had the same problem recording the game. There are some decent sized segments but a buch of tiny ones. Not acceptable by any stretch. I had the same signal problem during the post game, but luckily I was able to switch to the FOX 25 OTA feed. The cable company is coming out later in the week. They claim that this is the first time the've heard of the problem. Looks like this could be just a Charter MA problem.

At least you guys got some signal. Fox HD and only Fox HD has been out here in Brooklyn (Time Warner Cable) now for weeks and I couldnt get the game. I have heard these complaints from around the country. Time Warner is no help and blame it on Fox. I think this is part of their feud with the Cable companies and they are holding their customers hostage. In a huge market like New York it seems given weeks to fix the problem they would have got it done if they wanted to.

Default Fox HD problems

This has been talked about in another NG I'm in. There has been a problem with the Boston Fox channel. It was reported on both cable and over the air. They were saying that the problem was corrected about a week ago. To late for the game.

Default Fox HD DVR issues

Whew, here I thought it was my DVR going bad. I have the exact same SA8300 HD DVR and I went to record American Idol on Tuesday February 17 and went I went to play it back, it was in about 7 different sections. I thought maybe it was just a glitch so I forgot about it and moved and and then tonight, Wednesday 18th, I recorded Lie To Me, on Fox hd as well and it recorded in 2 different sections. I am relieved to know that its not my box. I had a rough time getting a decent HD box out of charter, so I didn't want swap out the actual DVR. Any word on when this issue will be fixed?

Default I am having the same issue but its not the network

I am on DirecTV and American Idol fragments every week, Biggest Loser (NBC) goes a fourth of the way through then rests to the begining and other shows on other HD stations fragment and their sound skews off.

Any thoughts on fixes?

fox HD will not record an entire show. They replaced my DVR 2 days ago, but it still continues to happen.

anyone else?

This is not new for me. Fox has always been the worst HD channel. The program will cut out temporarily. If it happens frequently enough, the HD has been known to switch to SD. At the beginning of Fox shows it says HD provided by DirecTV. If this is an example of DirecTV, I am glad I have cable.
