Can you post a picture of the remote you use?

Go to this post thread for more on these remotes: Voice Prompt Universal Remote at Radio Shack by UEI
Oh yes the Radio Shack 15-2146 $14 Female Voice Prompt Universal Remote works with all DCT DVR I've tested it with also:

DCT 2000 SD Signal Tuner without DVR
DCT 2500 SD Signal Tuner without DVR
DCT 6200 SD/HDTV Signal Tuner without DVR
DCT 6412 Phase III SD/HDTV Dual Tuners with DVR
DCT 6416 Phase III. SD/HDTV Dual Tuners with DVR

Just to let you know you have to learn the DVR LIST to PVR Menu very easy and quick to do. That will print up the DVR List of recordings you have.

Radio Shack as the 15-100 $29 LCD Universal Remote Same as the above but it has some newer codes for dishtv with DVR and it doesn't aid you with voice. Cost another $15 bucks more . Does have a clock LCD and more..

Not with this remote. However, as above poster noted, there are plenty of programmable remotes that will work.

Well you can try the ones from RS they're made by UEI or makes the UEI M780 that works with these boxes well DCT series. If the remote don't work you can alway return them. I've tested VPR works. Harmony remotes would be another way to go but they're pricey and have problems. I just like to keep things simple but still funtional.

Default Skip Ahead with Time Warner/Adelphia Remote?

I have a Motorola DCT 6416 III DVR with service from Time Warner (former Adelphia). Has anyone been able to program a 30 second skip ahead with the remote shown in the attached photo? I also have a Sony RM-V210 universal remote that works with the box but it has no way to reprogram individual buttons that I can see.

Seems to be working now. Weird how it did not a few weeks back. Thanks to the O.P.

Default I solved this problem

I switched to Dish Network. Now I have 3X the number of HD channels as I did on TW, a much better box, and I have my 30 second skip ahead button!

Default Woo-Woo!!

Very, very cool.

Worked like a charm on my Comcast DVR. Sliced bread may have to take second place!

Perfect just what I was looking for. After giving up my Tivo this is one of the things I missed with my new STB.

Bicker's post is over a year old, but I'm just getting that problem.
I have just started losing audio about 50% of the time, using the 30-sec skip. To get it back, I find that the best way is to shut the unit off and on again, which can't be done if the unit is recording at the time.
Bicker (or anyone...), any solution to this problem? Would a box-swap be in order?

Default Mute The Box

I wish I could help you more. I think I found instructions from a link at Wikipedia. The mute button operates the TV by default. You setup the setup button as a shift key. Hitting the setup button gives you an alternate button, the mute button. If the mute button mutes the cable box, then when it unmutes the cable box, you get your audio back. I do not remember how to do this. I have had great luck with this. It is faster than anything else. Hope you get it worked out.

Default 30 sec skip and audio loss

Thanks Joe - I couldn't find anything up at Wikipedia that applied.
It seems to be a common problem (from replies at another forum) that happens when you go too fast with the skips.
Someone suggested changing the inputs on the receiver back and forth, in addition to or instead of turning the box off and on. I'll try that next time it happens.

Nope. This issue apparently is related to the design of DCT/DCH series, a five year old design that originally didn't have to worry as much about things like HDCP. "Solution" requires redesign of the hardware (which is in the works... look for Motorola to release DCX series boxes in the next year or so), or switching to TiVo.
