I was able to use the 30 sec skip feature with my Harmony remote. No special programing was necessary. I have the Logitech Harmony 880. I highly recommend this remote for anyone who has multiple components in their Home Theater. Works great with my cable box... all the features are available... even the favorites button.

Well that IS good news. So it does work with remotes other than the supplied one. |

The 30-second skip (or ANY length you want) only works on those cable systems that have not disabled the feature with their firmware. There are MANY functions built into the Motorola boxes that cable companies "disable".
I have Insight now and it does NOT work-- worked fine on Comcast. Too bad that an old ReplayTV with "commerical skip" can't be easily modified to record HD . . . |

I have a Moto 6412 from Cox and have tried this using the "Move" and "HD Zoom" buttons on my remote, neither of which works. Those 2 buttons and the other PiP buttons at the bottom besides "Swap" are the only ones I don't use. Any recommendations on a button to make this work or will it not work with Cox? I have a 3416 upstairs I'll try it on and post back if it works with one of those two buttons.

I don't have a "Lock" button on my 6412 which is a phase 3, if that makes a difference.

Above the ARROW/OK buttons, there are three buttons in a row: LOCK, B-(blue) and C-(red) Do you have these buttons? http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_...ing_the_Remote Scroll down just a bit - picture of remote on right in color |

My remote is different than yours and my triangle button is the "A" button which is used for several functions, DVR and the Guide. Look at this link and my remote is the only silver one on this page.
