I exchanged my old box from Comcast for the new HDDVR Motorola 3416 box and am waiting for my Sony XBR to arrive. My question is will I have any programming problems when I hook up the box to the TV (assuming I hook it up correctly) or does it need to be programmed by Comcast to work. The guy at Comcast said when I pick up the box to give it 2 hrs to self program the channels. Not sure what this means. I am hoping that I hook it up and it works by design without an additional visit by comcast. What should I expect when I turn on the TV after hooking up the box and the TV?

You should not need any help from Comcast. It will take 2 hours or longer for it to download all the program info.

If your not getting all of your channels your suppose to, just call them up and they'll "hit" your box with a signal that will program it and reboot it. I had to have them hit both of my 3416's. Also, if you want to set it to 1080i and configure the SD to 480p or whatever, just hit menu on the front of the box while its powered off. Thats where you do that at.
