Default TWC Removes HD Channels!

I live in Los Angeles. I went through TWC new channel lineup a couple of months ago. I was happy to see TWC added new HD channels, two of which are HDNET (CH. 420) and HDNMV (CH. 421).
Imagine my surprise to wake up this morning to find that these two channels are now "Not Authorized" I called TWC and they said that I have an older package and they would restore these channels if I signed up with a new TWC package. Incredible!!! I'm just about ready to make the switch.

Dude! That really sucks! Sorry to here that. They shouldn't make you upgrade if you have been a loyal customer with and older package. They should give these channels without any problems.

Did you just install a new STB at the point you saw HDNet? In general, most service changes DO tend to have odd programing things happen to us. A few years ago, I got a new box and found absolutely everything was wide open, including ALL the PPV channels. Lasted 2 weeks. Last year, I got a new STB and found all the channels on a pay extra tier wide open, BUT 2 channels that were part of the digital package blocked. Three days later, all was as I was paying for it.

FWIW, in a LOT of locales, the 2 HDNet channels tend to be part of a HD speciality tier that does cost extra, kind of like HBO, SHO, etc.

I thought HDNet refused to allow MSOs to put HDNet on an HD tier. That's why Comcast doesn't offer HDNet.

Actually its other way around. Comcast does not have a specific HD Tier. All of their HD channels are tied to a different package. Example would be HBO-HD would be tied to HBO package.
