Comcast Denver - 1080I vs 720P --> Proscan LCD 27" and Color Balance
Hello all.
I have seen a number of posts about 1080i vs 720p, but none that addresses my concern. I have noticed that setting the comcast dvr box to 1080i looks much sharper on the hd channels than 720p. This is counter to my prediction since the display I own (proscan 27" LCD panel) is 1280x720 pixels. I would have assumed that a 1 to 1 pixel match of 720P would have looked the best. Is this just a case of having a higher resolution source look better? Similar to watching 35mm film transfered to video vs video camera on video? Why would anyone even want anything interlaced on a progressive scan display? I mean the display doesnt even scan the same way as a CRT TV (drawing every other interlace field at 1/60th of a second.
Bear with me, another issue I have is that on many HD or SD channels skin tones look very pink on this display, but when using component input on the Proscan you can not adjust the color balance (tone in an old tv) unless you are using the VGA input. I can reduce the saturation, but that just ends up looking undersaturated on many channels. Some HD and SD channels skin tones look perfect, so Im pretty sure it is not the set.
