Angry Christmas present from COMCRAP !!!

Anybody else get a lump of coal in the mail from COMCRAP today? I did, in the form of a rate increase notice. Merry Christmas!!!

First of all, they couldn't even wait a full year before jacking up the prices. We just got a notice 10 months ago, and prices went up in March 2006. Now they're going up in January 2007 again.

Second of all, they list all the wonderful advances they have made in the last year. They state, and I quote:
Quote:
"We have added more High-Definition programming ..."
Boy is THAT stretching the truth. The truth is, they added TWO NEW HD CHANNELS and they were ESPN2-HD and UHD. The way they say "more High-Definition programming" makes it sound like they have a dozen new HD channels. What a crock of $hit !!!

The last thing I want to point out is that they "... plan on adding even more HD channels in the coming year!". Boy if THAT isn't an escape clause. Instead of "planning on adding", why not say "We WILL add more HD channels" and at least tell us the minimum number, even if you can't specifically say which ones (they always claim secrecy due to negotiations). Trust me, Comcrap, I am keeping track, as are many others. How stupid do you think we are? (well, I guess stupid enough to keep taking your horse$hit until you can't keep FiOS out any longer).

Come on COMCRAP, isn't it about time you took care of the people who are making you filthy rich -- you know, the ones who pay $1,000-$1,500 or more every year ?

No wonder they're doing this at Christmas --- They make me want to shout "JESUS CHRIST" !!!

Man that's gotta suck. It's time for a switch to one of the satellite providers. As long as you stay they have no reason to care about rate increases.

Yes, I got that bull. My package is going up four dollars, plus they are now going to begin a monthly charge for the cablecard. I've had one for almost two years, and now they want to charge for it? This is crap, especially since they are poorly supported by Comcast.

I only did Comcast for the ditch the dish rate for 12 months after having directv since 1993. As soon as the 12 months is over, I'm out of here and back to DirecTV or Dish. That was always my plan and Comcast has offered nothing to keep me here. A PVR that sucks compared to DirecTivo and HD channels that show the same crap over and over again. I bet they show the same crossroads on MHD 100 times a month. None are perfect but some don't even try.

You got it! I've held out for 2 main reasons. One is having the extra hardware attached to my roof. I believe a lot of people feel this way too, and the cable co's know it. That's why they can get away with $crewing us. You take it or leave it, and they're betting we take it (which most of us suckers do). The other reason for me is being able to not have an STB if I wish. I have a cable STB on my main set, but my 2nd and 3rd sets in the BR and office are old analog sets. That's why I've been so insistent that any new sets I get have to have a CableCARD slot. However, if I do go to a dish, it won't matter if I have a CC slot since it would be useless at that point. That would give me more options AND save me money.

I've been hoping FiOS will be here soon so I can dump Comcrap without having to get a dish. But I don't know how much longer I can wait.

Boy are these cable co's slimy & sleazy !! They know damn well that if you have a TV with a CC slot you're going to want the CableCARD. So they get people to use it for no extra charge and then WHAM !! Once you've spent the extra bucks on the TV and lived without the STB, they figure they can charge you anything and you'll pay it. And most people will. I'm starting to think twice about being insistent that my next set has to have the CC slot.

Unfortunately, what they're doing is not illegal, it's just unscrupulous. Some might call it good business; I call it unethical. That's just one of a long list of reasons why people hate the cable co's, and Comcrap in particular.

Good for you! Playing one off against the other sounds like about the only possible way we can keep these jerks in check. If they have a monopoly, they'll $crew us indefinitely, only because they CAN. But it's nice that people like you can let them know that "WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT" !!! I hope someday I have the balls to make the switch. I can GUARANTEE that the day FiOS comes to town, I will be the FIRST PERSON to sign up. Trust me, Comcrap!!

I still don't even have 4 of those.

Have....: uhd, espn2hd, and TNTHD

Don't...: mhd, NflHd, FSN HD and HDSE
I wonder why Comcrap can't have the same lineups all over the country? Any ideas?

That's one thing that you can count on with Comcast every year. A rate increase & usually one that's not minimal. Here in NJ, I haven't received any news on rate increases, but since it seems like it's occurring all over the country in Comcast areas, I'm betting that I'll hear something within the next two weeks. However, they have added in the HD field 7 HD channels (3 HDSE channels, UHD, MHD,TNT-HD,ESPN2HD,) as well as a bunch of SD channels. The reason they added 3 HDSE channels is because the NY DMA has 4 RSNs (YES,SNY,MSG,FSNY) and there usually is 2-3 of them showing events a couple times a week, so they come in handy quite often. Comcast also now shows NFL Network HD content here on INHD.

They've really gotten their game together here in Brick,NJ due to the imminent arrival of Verizon's FIOS in the state.

ya know the worst thing is that different areas are getting more or less channels than others too.I see your in Lancaster and Im in Philly yet I have some of the channels you dont...wtf?
I have: ComcastSNHD,ESPNHD,ESPN2HD,TNTHD,UHD,MHD,INHD(doub les as NFLHD on Thursday only)DiscoveryHD and then the premiums(starz, sho, hbo etc..) and the locals,WHYYHD. I think it comes to about 22-23 or so HD channels but yet still they say we gonna get more and hasnt happened..we've had these channels for over a year now with the exception of MHD. I also recieved the rate increase this month too...gotta love em. FIOS is still not in Philly yet so untilthen were pretty much beat right?

Chalk me up as another Comcrap victim. My HDDvr is nothing but junk. Somedays it works fine, other days it cuts out and I have to go to the screen guide to get my picture back. Speaking of the screen guide, Comcrap is at it again by adding their special ads at the bottom of it. I now get 4 channels on the screen guide - instead of the 6 I had before. 6 wasn't enough, not to mention the one ad they put in the bottom is in full color, huge and animated, seems like a bandwidth waste. the only reason I have Comcrap is it's the only way I can get broadband. As soon as DSL or BBOP comes available - good riddance to the moneysuckers. Oh, and I have talked with comcrap about my DVD, they say it's a signal problem. I say fix it. I also believe it's a heat problem with the dvr. Oh well, I leave it on 24/7 nowdays so hopefully I'll burn it up.

Question Whazzupppp?

Sounds like we're all in the same boat.

btw, have any of you gotten e-messages (you know, the little red dot) on your cable box over the last month or so, notifying you that Comcrap is now hiring? I've gotten about six of these, often times listing requisition #'s for multiple positions. I wonder what's up? Do they seriously think they're going to have a huge onslaught of new business in the coming months, or are they preparing for the inevitable fight with Verizon to fend off losses to FiOS by putting more retention employees on their payroll?

Ideas on their intentions???

p.s. to oblioman: Nice word choice with "moneysuckers". That's worth 2 bowdowns...

Yup. Get the red dot. Have considered a job with them. Heaven don't want me and Hell ain't ready for me. I consider myself to be "user friendly" to work for COMCRAP. But I do have some scruples. This leaves me in me Viking limbo until BBOP forces COMCRAP to be something, or the Vikes win the SB. I'm still waiting on BBOP, F### ComCrap.

Uh-oh, you got me on the BBOP acronym. What the heck's that mean?

btw, your posts have seemed a bit too coherent lately. Are you slowing up ever so slightly on the alcohol consumption? That's a sin in Tennessee, ain't???
