Default Motorola dvi not working

what do i have to do to get my dvi working. the comcast installer told me that it was not supported at the time of the install. if there is a new firmware version out, is there a way for me to reset the box so it can erase the old firmware and download the new one? i'm running out of high def inputs on my tv. i'd rather use the dvi than the component for the cable box.

You probably need to ask Comcast about the update.

Adelphia told me the same thing when I connected my DVI cable and it didn't work (some kind of message popped up on the screen, can't remember what it said now for it was months ago).. but I found if I connected the DVI and disconnected the power to the HD cable box for a minute and then reconnected and let it reboot it found the DVI and has worked fine ever since...

after going through 2 dct 6200 that comcast assured the dvi ports worked, i still cant get it to work, the tech came over yesterday and gave me the dct 6412. plugged in the dvi then i got a message saying the HDCP content of my display has been compromised, please use the component connections. It sucks to have a feature you can't even use.

my tv said the same thing when i first hooked up the 6412. all i did to fix it was to turn both off, then turn on the dvr followed by the tv. that fixed it. I just made sure that the macro on my remote turned them on in that order and I never have that issue anymore.

Runaround is right -
turn the STB on, followed by the TV- that should resolve the HDCP issue, unless your TV has keys in it that are older than the STB supports/recognizes ( in which case, a firmware update is required on the TV).
If the TV is on first, the STB does not get the handshake that it's looking for and therefore can not tell what type of device it's hooked to. The TV needs to send the connect message to the STB, the STB processes what type of connection it is, checks the keys the TV is sending and then says "OK, you're allowed to watch copy protected content" ( or not ).
That's the jist of it.

well i followed the procedures you guys stated. now the message stays on longer then it blanks out after about 30 seconds. here's what i did:
dvi cable plugged in
tv off
unplugged dvr for 1 minute
plugged it back then turned on dvr
dvi blinks on dvr display
tv on
hd content protection message displayed on tv with picture in the background then blanks out after 30 seconds.

this thing is driving me nuts - now i know it's not the tv cause my dvi connection was working with the voom receiver.

Ok, lets try this. Unhook the DVI cable from the TV and reset the DVR again. Now, after it's all done loading everything back in and the time is correct on the display make sure that it is on. Then turn on the tv and after it's up hook up the DVI cable.

If that doesn't work unhook the DVI cable and have DVR on w/ the TV off. Hook up the DVI and turn on the TV.
