About a week ago I bought a sony KDL-40S2000. The Tv works fine until
I tried to hook in up to the Comcast dvr model #dct3412. The problem I am having is that I when I switch between an HD channel and a SD channel the Tv goes blank. If I my TV off then on again it will show the channel. I can switch between a HD channel to another HD channel and it is fine but if I try to go to a SD channel the screen goes blank. I am using a HDMI cord. I called sony and Comcast and both of them don't know what to do and have never heard of this problem. I tried component video cords it will work fine but I want to use the HDMI cord because my component video slots are all full I am on box number two from Comcast. And I had the problem with the first box and now the second box. Please Help |

My only suggestion is to get their other HD DVR box that has DVI and not HDMI. Im assuming you probably have a DVI port as well as HDMI. At least my tv does. But honestly, sounds like theirs a compatibility issue between the box and your tv. Your prolly farked. Or its time to get a DVD player that does hdmi and use the componant slot on your comcast box. I have one tv with componant and one with HDMI. You cant tell the difference in picture quality. Both look great.

you just get the tv? Take that shit back dude if sony cant help you. I would. Unless you want to look into dish networks or dtv. I dont think theres anything you can do to fix this. Have you tried another HDMI cable for shits and giggles? you really dont have too many options to try here if both the manufacturer and the cable company are telling u they dont know. Swap out cables, swap out the box, which you already did.

no I am going out tonight get get some cables becuase my dad saw mine and he brought one. So I will try that and see if that helps. I called sony and they said it was comcast's problem and comcast said it was sony's problem. The HDMI cable works fine with my computer hook up.

ya i dont think its the cable, but might as well exhaust all you can. You tinker with different display combinations at all? Like zoom, etc?

Which cable box do you have? I have the SA 8300HD for Cablevision, but my buddy with Comcast has the same box. If this is the one, you can push up on the "Settings" button on the remote twice to enter the "advanced" settings menu. There might be something in there that needs to be set.

I found out how to change my setting. I started changing things. I found out that if I change the cable box output from HDMI to DVI it will work fine but the picture is not as clear. So I don't really knows what that means but hopefully someone does. So how do I get the HDMI to work.
