Default Comcast HDTV Static bars problem?

Hey, I recently bought new Samsun HLR4667 46" DLP tv, and I got comcast digital cable with high def by them. I know some of the high def channels like TBS will not be in a high def signal all the time for example when TBS plays friends or everybody loves raymond so the picture will be smaller than the TV screen with surround black bars. This is fine, however, on top of this perimiter of bars running horizontal across the picture is a 2" thick line of static/noise, it does this on multiple hd channels, but not all. We tried a new comcast cable box but it didn't fix the problem. My sister had similar problem with charter but couldn't remember what they did as it was 2-3 years ago. Also, I looked at how they hooked up the box to my tv. I only see one coax coming into the box and one leaving the box to my tv. It has slots for lots of audio/video color cables, but none were hooked up. Could this be the problem? Please help!

aim: awedaveo

Thanks in advance,

David

Yes, it could be. If you have an HDMI cable going between the box & tv - then that would allow full HD. BUT, if you have just a standard RF type cable (like comes from the wall) then that is NOT for HD. You need to use the component cables at least (the red/green/blue for video & red/white for audio)(not the yellow/red/white combo - thats composite, an SD hookup) going to the tv. A HDMI cable (rectangle plug-in) also carries the full HD video-audio in that one cable.

But again, if its just a standard cable, then that won;t work and all the HD will be converted down to SD - some which may look good but will not be true HD and can cause formatting problems.
